Allyson Bowen, LISW-CP
Allyson Bowen, LISW-CP is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in clinical private practice and is co-owner and director of Turning Point Counseling in West Columbia, SC. She focuses on educating “tweens”, teens and women about female relational issues and challenges. Allyson is co-author of the book, Mean Girls: 101 ½ Creative Strategies and Activities for Working with Relational Aggression. She also developed a Relational Aggression Survey for use in identifying female bullying behaviors in girl’s grades 3-12.

Allyson is a renowned speaker and national consultant on relational aggression and bullying. She has led professional seminars and worked with youth, professionals and parents throughout the US and Canada on topics such as relational aggression, anger, bullying and cyber-bullying, peer relationships and adolescent behaviors and disorders. She is also a member of the International Bullying Prevention Association.

In addition, Allyson is a past adjunct professor at Limestone College, South Carolinas largest private accredited institution. She served in the Social Work Department focusing on human behavior, sexuality and gender role differences. She has also worked in the medical field and developed a community outreach program for teen mothers.

Allyson volunteers in her church as a praise and worship leader and led the Nearly/Newly Wed Sunday School class with her husband Eric for six years. She is also a volunteer at her son’s elementary school and speaks to community/civic groups educating them about relational aggression/bullying and encouraging mentorship/volunteerism in local schools. In addition, she works to educate parents about the daily perils of peer relationships their children face in school.

Allyson received her BA in Social Work from Columbia College and her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina.

Allyson is married to her high school sweetheart Eric and they have one nine year old son Asher.

Allyson’s high energy and humor have challenged and motivated participants in making positive changes in their work with youth and adolescents, she educates and entertains audiences and leaves them motivated and inspired with her wit and wisdom.
